Auditions are a ‘necessary evil’ of a musician’s career.

This day-long workshop seeks to prepare musicians effectively for auditions. Upon arrival, artists will perform a mock audition (pianist is available if needed), that will be filmed for later reference. The rest of the morning session involves a wide array of learning opportunities necessary for audition preparedness: effective verbal and non-verbal communication, presentation, written materials (e.g. CVs and application forms, score markings), and helpful tools for managing performance anxiety. In the afternoon session, a second opportunity for a mock audition is provided (also filmed), this time paired with direct feedback from workshop facilitators and participants.

If you are preparing for conservatory entrance auditions, competitions, or orchestral, ensemble or operatic auditions, this workshop can help you develop strategies for in-depth preparedness and provide practical experience in auditioning, paired with peer- and mentor-feedback.

Participants: instrumentalists, pianists, singers.  No age limit. 

Materials: participants bring printed copies of their audition repertoire and, if necessary, a copy for accompaniment.
