Date: Friday, January 24, 2025
Time: 4:00 PM–8:00 PM

Join us for a discussion and exchange on fair working conditions in the film festival and film culture scene. This event offers a protected space for sharing experiences, accompanied by professional moderation.
Who is this for?
This event is aimed at professional, flexible, and highly qualified workers in the festival and events sector, who are often exposed to precarious and uncertain working conditions. To ensure a safe space, festival directors, board members, or stakeholders of the organizing bodies cannot participate.
Key questions we aim to address:
In which working constellations can power imbalances be most easily exploited?
What mechanisms can help protect workers?
How can we achieve fair structures, such as those recognized by the “Fair Festival Award” from the AG Festivalarbeit in ver.di since 2020?
Moderation:
Heather O’Donnell, an artistic-systemic therapist with experience in mental health workshops and consulting for cultural organizations, will moderate the discussion, guide the exchange of experiences, and provide creative insights.
Legal Expertise:
Renate Schmid, a lawyer specializing in media, press, and labor law, will offer information and answer legal questions, particularly for freelancers in the media and cultural sectors.
Event Goal:
This four-hour event will focus on sharing experiences regarding working conditions in the film festival and film culture sectors. Together, we aim to develop perspectives and initial steps toward fostering fair working environments.
Participation: Free of charge
Registration:
Please register by January 15, 2025, at anmeldung@filmszene.koeln – feel free to include any questions or suggestions in your email.
