Parallel Pieces: Improvisation for classical musicians —be inspired by ART!

Camilla Hoitenga

This in-person course is designed for classically-trained professional musicians and conservatory students of all levels and instruments, who are interested in learning or deepening their improvisation skills while being inspired by visual arts.

Taking advantage of the special atmosphere of The Green Room, Camilla Hoitenga has also invited the painter Mutsumi Okada to exhibit some of her works and to share her insights on the creative process from her perspective. Together both Camilla & Mutsumi will work with the participants, inspiring them to use the relationship and possible connections between visual and musical performance art to create their own pieces.

At the end of the morning activities — which include not only lectures but also practical tips, demonstrations, and time for both individual experiment and group discussion— the course will conclude with a “mini-concert”, an opportunity for the participants to share the improvisation-inspired-by-art skills they just acquired!

Come with curiosity — leave with new creative tools and lots of inspiration!! Camilla Hoitenga
