Alёna Shornikova
Alёna Shornikova is a multidisciplinary artist, currently based in Cologne. Born and raised in a Russian-Ukrainian family. In 2012 she graduated from the Moscow College of Arts with a major in Dance. Additionally, she studied Theater Direction at the Moscow University of Culture and Arts, where she was looking for new ways of reconstructing classical theater pieces.
In 2013 Alёna moved to Germany, where she continued her Dance Journey. Alёna holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Cologne University of Music and Dance, and her Master’s in Dance Composition (Interpretation) from the Folkwang University of Arts (2021).
In 2018 she received a scholarship for her Apprenticeship in the Vertigo Dance Company in Israel. Alёna has performed, collaborated, and trained with artists such as: Kosro Adibi, Dafi Altabeb, Noa Wertheim, Adi Sha'al, Keren Bigon Horesh, Inbal Aloni Debi, Yael Cibulski, Didier Theron, Sita Ostheimer, Rodolfo Leoni, Henrietta Horn.
During her studies, Alena was nominated for the Deutschlandstipendium. After she has been awarded various scholarships, such as the KunstSalon Köln, Kunststiftung NRW, the GVL Stipendium, and was recently granted the Dis-Tanz-Solo and Dis-Tanz-Start Stipendium to support her dance career. Alёna has performed on many stages both in her home country and internationally.
Besides her artistic practice, she teaches Yoga and Meditation.
