Adrian Mocanu

Adrian Mocanu (also spelled Mokanu) is a composer born in Kiev in 1989. He studied at the National Academy of Music of Ukraine and at the Centro Superior de Enseñanza Musical Katarina Gurska. His works have been awarded at competitions such as the 38th Frederic Mompou International Award (Barcelona, 2017), the 5th Mauricio Kagel Composition Competition (Vienna, 2022) or the XXXIII Young Composers Prize of the SGAE Foundation (Madrid, 2022).

Among the residencies he has completed are the Gaude Polonia program of the Polish Ministry of Culture, a scholarship from Casa de Velázquez - the Academy of France in Madrid, an artistic residency at The Green Room for Performing Artists (Cologne) and the project 'Postcolonial Recherche' with Ensemble Recherche.

His works have been performed in numerous countries including Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Estonia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil and the USA.

Adrian Mocanu (auch Mokanu geschrieben) ist ein 1989 in Kiew geborener Komponist. Er studierte an der Nationalen Musikakademie der Ukraine und am Centro Superior de Enseñanza Musical Katarina Gurska. Seine Werke wurden bei Wettbewerben wie dem 38th Frederic Mompou International Award (Barcelona, 2017), dem 5th Mauricio Kagel Composition Competition (Wien, 2022) oder dem XXXIII Young Composers Prize der SGAE Foundation (Madrid, 2022) ausgezeichnet.

Zu den Aufenthalten, die er absolvierte, gehören das Gaude Polonia Programm des polnischen Kulturministeriums, ein Stipendium der Casa de Velázquez - der Akademie von Frankreich in Madrid, ein künstlerischer Aufenthalt bei The Green Room für Darstellende Künstler*innen (Köln) und das Projekt 'Postcolonial Recherche' mit dem Ensemble Recherche.

Seine Werke wurden in zahlreichen Ländern wie der Ukraine, Polen, Rumänien, Estland, Litauen, der Tschechischen Republik, Serbien, Österreich, Deutschland, Italien, Spanien, Portugal, Mexiko, Brasilien und den USA aufgeführt.
