Born to be…
Daria Panteleeva is a prolific and accomplished stage director who staged over 25 shows in 7 theaters, including the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, the Mikhailovsky Theatre, and the Azerbaijan Musical Theatre, etc.
Because of her outspoken opposition to Russia’s war against Ukraine, which led to her arrest, she fled with her partner in 2022 to Germany.
Daria is an Artist-in-Residence at The Green Room’s “GreenHaven Artist Residency” program.
Daria Panteleeva's project "Born for...". - is an autobiographical audiovisual installation in a genre close to audio-performance with elements of video-art.
It is a self-reflection on the formation of a person belonging to the Russian millennial generation, on Russian mentality and attitudes regarding war which, in one way or another have always been present.
This project is a retrospective on the events of the last 30 years in Russia, as well as a look at one's own life and an attempt to explain to oneself how time and place influence the shaping of identity, and attitudes to life and death.
Fragments of memories are used as narrative and the visual component plays a symbolic or documentary role.
The project uses texts, poems, photographs, drawings, videos and music by Daria Panteleeva as a perception of reality through different mediums.
